Chloe’s Recovery Story at Port of Call

Meet Chloe, 25, from Lancashire. Chloe began drinking alcohol at the age of sixteen and her relationship with alcohol grew worse at University, where attendance wasn’t monitored and drinking daily was seen as the normal thing to do. As summer ended and the real world loomed, Chloe began work in an office, whilst her friends moved to London to embark on their careers. This is when Chloe started to feel trapped in her small world and drink seemed to be her remedy.

“Drinking 2 to 3 bottles of wine on a weeknight was normal for me and I would even begin drinking from as early as 9am on weekends. In the beginning, this didn’t seem to affect my work, but after receiving a formal warning for becoming lacklustre about my work, I found myself turning further to drink, sneaking it in flasks at lunchtime,” says Chloe. Chloe was found out and fired from her workplace which she believes was the kick-start she needed to seek help. “I was completely devastated. I couldn’t believe that I had let my relationship with alcohol get so out of hand,” she says.

After the realisation had set in, Chloe contacted Port of Call, who were able to secure her immediate access to a suitable treatment centre in Lancashire and now she hasn’t touched a drop of alcohol in over eighteen months. “The treatment helped me understand what I wanted out of life and has given me a new focus. Finding an alcohol rehab clinic in Lancashire meant that I could access the help I needed with very little disruption to my normal routine. I now have a new job that will help me progress through my career and have a completely new outlook on life. I couldn’t have got to where I am now if it wasn’t for the help I received from Port of Call throughout my recovery,” says Chloe.
