There is no stereotype for an individual going through addiction, it can happen to anybody. When addiction takes over, the real person inside shrinks. For people struggling with addiction, their bad relationship with alcohol or drugs can cause them to feel isolated, as if nobody understands. It can even make them wonder “can addiction be overcome?” The answer is yes!
If you have been trying to battle with an addiction on your own, or if you have been watching a family member struggle with addiction, please remember, you do not have to do this alone. It can help to speak to somebody who understands and professional help could be what it takes to really turn your life around.
Here at Port of Call, we understand that it is difficult to ask for help with addiction, but we hope that these recovering addicts’ own stories and their family’s gratitude will inspire you to seek help and begin your journey towards active recovery. Watch our video to listen to these individuals and their families as they share their personal experience of seizing the opportunity to seek out the right help at the right time.
If you, or a loved one, are struggling with addiction, please call 0800 002 9010 to speak to an addiction expert by experience, who have battled with addiction and have come out of the other end. Alternatively, request a call back or complete our contact form on our contact page.
