Kevin’s Recovery Story at Port of Call
Kevin is 20 and from Cheshire. Kevin was introduced to cocaine when he started university and began to mix with the wrong crowd, which would often make him feel pressured into taking cocaine with them at parties. Kevin realised what he was doing was wrong, but he desperately felt the need to fit in with his peers.
Kevin’s mum and dad noticed that he had changed when he would visit during the holidays. He would either be very hyperactive and enthusiastic at times, or completely withdrawn. By this point, Kevin found himself struggling to keep on top of his assignments and his place on his Psychology course was in jeopardy.
“It didn’t take my parents long to realise that I had been abusing drugs whilst I was away. They could see how quickly I was unravelling and how hard I was finding it to cope. It was at this point that my mum got in touch with Port of Call,” says Kevin. “We spoke to a really helpful adviser at Port of Call who was able to direct me towards a rehab centre close to my family. In my opinion, having access to this constant level of support from my family was absolutely critical in my recovery – I couldn’t have done it without my mum.”
After having successfully completed his treatment at a residential drug rehab in Cheshire, Kevin is now in active recovery and is looking forward to returning to university next October.

AA meetings in Cheshire
Alcohol or drug rehab in Cheshire can provide you with a strong foundation on which to tackle your addiction and is something that Port of Call recommends in order to achieve long-lasting, active, recovery. To help increase your chances of staying addiction-free, and to reduce the chances of a relapse, Port of Call highly urges attending regular support group meetings. These support group meetings are a great way of receiving support from other like-minded individuals who have experienced similar treatment.
Alcohol rehab in Cheshire is also backed up with support group meetings, which are free to attend. These support group meetings are held throughout the week and can prove useful for anyone seeking help after having undergone a rehab programme or structured drug detox in Cheshire. It is important to remember that this cannot be compared to receiving treatment at a rehab centre, as it is only a means of support.
